What's Included

Everything you need is provided.

Up to 2 hours in the studio
500g of clay
All tools, stamps, lace and texture rollers
A wide range of underglazes to personalise your piece
Friendly guidance throughout the session
Bisque firing
Clear glazing
Final glaze firing

Your pottery will be ready to collect approximately 3–4 weeks later (or postage can be arranged).

Is It Messy?

Not really.

Unlike pottery wheel classes, hand-building uses very little water, making it a much cleaner experience than most people expect.

Everyone works on their own pottery board, so the clay stays contained and cleanup is easy.

Wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting a little creative in. If a little clay or underglaze gets on your clothes, it simply washes out.

The Studio

The Clay Station is a small, welcoming studio in Lake Hayes, Queenstown.

Sessions are intentionally kept small, giving everyone plenty of space to create and plenty of guidance if they need it.

There are no expectations, no pressure and absolutely no judgement.

Just good conversation, creativity and clay.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be creative?

Not at all.

Honestly, most people tell me they're "not creative" before we begin.

By the end of the session they're usually surprised by what they've made—and even more surprised by how much they enjoyed the process.

How long is the session?

Approximately two hours.

When do I get my pottery back?

Your pieces are carefully dried, fired twice and glazed after your session, so they're usually ready to collect in around 3–4 weeks.

Can I make whatever I like?

Absolutely.

I'll help you choose a project that's achievable, but you're free to create something that's meaningful to you.
